Dear All,

I've just bought a 1999 "V" reg E240 estate which I have to say is everything I thought it would be, however, my son decided to break the nearside door mirror.........accidentally...... it now hangs by the electrical cable. the bracket clearly broken which held a long pin of some description...

trying to source a new one is easier said than done, it appears that 1999 was a year of slight changes and although mine was registered in Nov 99, when was it manufactured?? prior to 06/99 or after...is there anyway of finding out?

I've looked and ordered in eurocarparts what I think is the right mirror housing, however, It doesnt mention the electrical folding bit......so will it be a standard electric/heated mirror or did all E240's of that period have folding mirrors as standard and expect as much through the post??

I've researched the forums and seen the thread about removing the old one, seems straight forward......

regards

As far as I know, there was only 1 major change in 99 and that was the facelift. Post-facelift mirrors have the integrated indicator, pre facelift ones have the indicator in the wing. The shape etc changed at the same time, but that should be enough to source a replacement.
You can tell when it was manufactured from the 'russian site' - I'll see if can find it but given how slow this server is today I may struggle...

With this link use the first 6 numbers you can find the exact part that you need

http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb0.asp?TP=1

find your car 210--- go to doors, then ouside mirror, all the part numbers are there, here is a sample of the non indicator 210 mirror

http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.as...GM=717.463&CT=F&cat=45P&SID=72&SGR=070&SGN=05

Please note there are repair kits for some, you only need buy the frame and not the whole mirror. buying the whole mirror would mean selling the kids to pay for it, a kind of catch 22 answewr.

thanks guys......on my rounds this afternoon i popped into the main stealership who quoted an astonishing £200.70 plus VAT.:(

mine is a pre facelift model "V" reg, the main stealers told me today it came to be on the 15th June 1999 which is about the changeover time. the mirrors are electrically adjustable and folding.

I've been contacted by someone on the parts gateway web scraper who are supplying me a brand new unit for £95 plus VAT. I felt this was reasonable considering euro car parts or GSF don't supply these parts.......nevermind..

my next question then..........are they easy to fit?? as far as I can see the only tricky bit is removing the trim from the inside of the door......any tips??
