Hello Gentlemen and Ladies,
Only joined your site yesterday and have tried to search for help and advise. Tomorrow i`m going to view and hopefully purchase my first Merc (CLK 320 coupe) full MB history one owner 80,000 mls. Current car is a Nissan 200sx turbo. I`m at the age(44) of wanting comfort and luxury so have been looking for a CLK for around 4 months. Now the question you get asked repeatedly:Can you Please tell me what the common faults are on the 320 and what i should be looking at.
Regards Kev

Welcome to the Forum

Whilst I do not own a CLK myself, the known issues appear to be:

  • The headlight seals are prone to perish, causing the buildup of condensation
  • The headgaskets are known to go, about £500 to have repaired
  • Check for dampness in the passenger footwell. A leak in the front footwell is usually due to a blocked drain in the bulkhead.
  • Check the heater, especially the top fan setting. The pollen filter or drain tend to block
  • Also, check front springs and ball joints

Good luck with the purchase. At a 'certain age' there is a lot to be said for wafting around in comfort ! :)
