Hi All,

I am a newbie here and i have been following this forum for a while now and i must say the members here are very knowledgeable and helpful!! I have finally decided to purchase a used CLK 209 coupe and i cant decide which one to buy ie. between CLK240 and CLK200k. I am looking for a comfortable cruiser and not that keen on power. I really like the clk design and been dreaming about it for so long.. Now that i can finally own one, i need to make sure i got the one that is reliable and easy on the wallet. FYI my budget would be around £11k. Hope you guys can help me out here. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to forum, why not try to find CLK220 CDI, they are very economical and good cruisers with sufficiecnt oomph!!

Thanks Amo for you reply. I did consider a diesel engine but i will moving back to Malaysia soon and there aren't many diesel w209 around so parts and good mechanics would be a problem. So thats why i have to stick to petrol engine.

well in that case go for CLK240 as the MPG figure isnt that much different between CLK200 or CLK240.

CLK240 will be your cruiser where CLK200 is going to lack that extra power

yeah.. quite keen on the v6 engine too compared to the 4-cyl 200k. in terms of mechanical and electrical parts apart from the valeo issue, is there anything else that i need to look for ? I am going to start viewing next week so would be great to get a few tips from the experts. Cheers

If you can stretch to a 320 it's worth it.
I drove the 240 then 320 and the 320 really is a smooth cruiser - with power on hand if you need it.

I accept the use of the term smooth, but is it the car Peter, or is it you??;)

Valeo issue was sorted in all 2004 onward models and also the bodie should be galvanised so no rust issues either. I would just look for normal things such as high mileage, any noises from any corner and check brakes and tyres. Its also worth having a look underneath the car to see any leaks etc

Good luck and keep us posted

Go for a 320, your never look back!!

Absolutely, it just doesn't have to try, which has a relaxing effect on the driver, and a beneficial effect on the driving. Fuel consumption is not that different. Larger engined cars often have more refinements too.

Servicing is higher too though... he is taking the car to malaysia so it may be harder/expensive to repair/maintain 320

Thanks guys for the useful tips. I ve been reading a lot about the mighty 320 but like Amo said, its gonna cost me a bomb for that pleasure. Unfortunately i have to settle for something in between, which is the 240. I will give an update once i get the car. Cheers
