Good evening, I have just bought my first Mercedes, a C220. (2019 plate) Absolutely love it. I would like to hard wire a dash cam. Would anyone be able to advise me which fuse to piggy back from the fuse circuit in the right side of the dash . Thank you. Pete

Hi Pete and welcome. I’ve got a feeling all those fuses are always live and you will need one that is ignition live or the DashCam will run down the battery. Have you got a fuse box on the left hand side of the passenger footwell?

You should have a fuse allocation chart which should be with the fuse box under the boot floor which might help you.

Welcome, I would go to the back of the cigar lighter socket, it does mean no power without ignition.
Anywhere else you might upset the Canbus system, but there are more qualified on here than me.

Hello and welcome

See which one powers the 12v socket as that should be switched live

Hi Steve, thanks for the welcome message and your prompt response. Yes it does have a fuse box in the passenger foot well. I can also see that in the fuse box on the right side of the dash has a fuse for the glove box light, I wondered whether this would be acceptable

Does the glove box light come on with the ignition off or does it only work when the lights are on? As said above, the 12v socket fuse is usually the favourite.

Is there not any provision to add a fuse to the side of this fuse box .....

This link is for a Smart, but the principle applies to Merc too .... https://www.evilution.co.uk/index.php?menu=electrical&mod=481
My dash cam is wired using one of these fuse carriers ... https://www.smart-stuff.parts/black-fuse-holder
