i am so sorry mate, but how on earth did you post a message? i joined yesterday and cannot find how, much appreiated if you would reply.
a a suggestion, i would go with the sl320, i dont have kids so i would not require a 4 seat conv, styling is much better than the clk conv, if i were a power and gadget person i would go with the clk55 amg, reason for the sl320 is looks, its spring time (have to have a conv), economy, a v6 against a v8, its just extra power that i do not require, and will lead to extra running costs, i would just de-badge the car, upgrade the wheels (only AMG replacements), preferred to get the sports package edition as you get the side skirts and upgraded front and back spoilers(if i am not mistaken). any how hope that helps.

you gotta go for the CLK55.

Power, comfort, understated.
The ultimate stealth machine !

I'd go for something a bit more 'classic'.

190E 2.5 Evo II
W124 E500

Or even a AMG E55 which is one of the ultimate Q cars.

In each case you can pocket your change and spend it on petrol. ;)

Why not go for a CLK430 Cabriolet, that way you get the power (not quite the same as a clk55 but v v v v good:p ) and you also get the benefit of having a soft-top for the summer, which I dont think you can get with the previous clk55?

They're all great. Just remember the running costs, not just petrol and tyres. I suspect everything from insurance to brakes on a 55 based machine is going to be very heavy.Remember, they were built with owner who can afford them new in mind. So, if your pocket isn't bottomless, the CLK320/SL320 depending on how many seats you need, if you're brave or wealthy, in pure grin making terms, the 55 has got to be the way to go!

Thanks for the replies.........its a difficult decision.........I think the clk 320 cab is out of the running......but the suggestion of a 430 is interesting.....I was leaning towards the clk55 amg but saw a lovely black sl320 with panoramic glass roof that looked stunning..........I think I will need to take my time over this one

cheers steve
