if the engine's turned on, then so is the blower.

thanks guys.
can't bear the squeaky sound when driving on the rough surface. went to MB dealer. they said it is usual for the convertible / sporty. have your guys experienced the same?

Creeky sound not uncommon on mercedes these days. I had my car looked at by the dealer on several occasions. They made it better but there is still noticable noise. Like the advice above, where possible just apply WD40.

A supercharger is permanently engaged and turns at a fixed ratio of the engine speed. A turbo is driven by the exhaust and the relationship between its speed and the engine speed, varies with engine speed.

Do you want to know boost pressure? I don't see why you couldn't fit a gauge, although they don't come with them as standard. Its probably because it would look tacky.

What you really want to know is charge air mass, though, isn't it.

supercharger

My SLK can`t be different from everybody else`s. When the engine is ticking over the supercharger is not engaged, start to rev the engine slowly and you will hear the electric clutch kick in,when stationary in park it kicks in at about 2000 revs but when driving it engages almost immediatly if you listen carefully you can hear it engage.

I am no mechanic but as far as I understand it, the supercharger has a clutch and this comes engaged at fairly low rev, I think roughly over 1500 rpm. I might be wrong.

When the charger kicks in the car feels like it is having a turbo lag but only a very mild one, ie: with your foot gently pressing on the accelerator and the car gently driving on, there is nothing... nothing... nothing and ommmmmph off you go.

My C200K is the first supercharged vehicle I have ever driven. My problem with it only occurs when I try to parallel park on a slope, gradient 1:8 or so. With the auto on reverse, foot fairly generously on the accelerator, handbrake released, the car simply rolls forward. Harder on the accelerator then the charger kicks in just when you definitely don't need it. For a practical simulation, perhaps one could try the parallel reverse parking near the top of Primrose Hill, London then you would see what I mean. I have just about masteres the art.

eek! I'm glad everyone spotted my deliberate error. I was thinking of the VW G60 engine, not the Mercedes one. Oops...

Paulcallender,

I was indeed very surprised by your earlier comment since from your contributions elsewhere on the forum, it is very obvious that you know Mercedes very well.

thanks guys. I can hear actually feel the supercharger kick in you mentioned. Hope it not the only the gear chaning.

The creedy sound is bit annoying, mainly from inside I notice. I wonder it is loose interior cause it, like the edge of the door handle. Will WD -40 help or try a hot glue?

You tend to get a creek from the roof, there have been serveal posts on here suggesting petroleum jelly on all the roof seals will stop the noise. I've yet to try this myself but others report it curing the problem. The door handles can develop a rattle as well - as I have just discovered. :-(

i went to have a check at local dealer. they suggest me to change the inside of the door costing me 600 each. I am thinking whether hot glue could fix the loose panel.
