Never, ever..... ever, even in a life or death moment use an automatic car wash

- unless you are using a rental car

Never put your quality motor through those automatic car washes. My brother in-law has a 7 series Beema and he was practically in tears when he saw what the car wash did to his paint job. He had to invest in a bottle of Red T-Cut (car polish/filler solution) and spend most of the weekend bringing his pride and joy back to glory.

I always clean my Mercs myself by hand using quality shampoo and wax polish.

Many years ago when I still bought Fords, I put my bright red XR3I through a car wash. On the drying cycle the proximity sensors had a blip and the dryer arm (the full width of the car) came down in the middle of the roof, leaving a 1 inch deep crease right accross the roof...........NEVER BEEN IN ONE SINCE!

Simonz

I only ever use Simonz wash n wax car shampoo, it aint dirt cheap or rip off expensive, fair price for excellent results,

Once champois dry it looks clean and cared for, always avoid auto car washes, doing it by hand yourself, is a job well done and a good un at that.

Treat it like your favourite lambswool. Handwash only and a good lubricating shampoo, will stay looking good for years.

It also is your opportunity to look over the car, check wheels, tyres, trims and so on.

Its good for the driver too!!

This is a car forum . No need to tell us about your interest in sheep.Leave the lambs alone they are too young .Get an older sheep and give it a good wash with detol.Dont drive into the fields and you wont have to check your car before you come home.Try this site www.younglambs.com

my boss just got himself an S320 CDI. it came with a wash pack in some kind of holdall affair, and - get this - he was told that unless he used the wash items therein, his warranty would be void.

contents of wash bag were: shampoo, wax (actually not wax - i think some silicon formula), and a synthetic chamois.

tsk.

try supaguard. Your local dealership should apply this to your car for around £100. its a 3 stage treatment for your paintwork. it should be thourghly clened then the 2 stage treatment applied. this will protect your paintwork for around 3 years. you shouldn't need to wax your car again for this period. With a little gently washing the lustre of your paintwork will stay intact. the kit also comes with an interior protection too, both for cloth and leather upholstery, i think it may be a little more money for the interior protection. As a note never should you put your car threw a normal carwash this will cause minor fine scrathes and so dull the appearance of your paintwork. If you already have this on your vehicle a fine bodypolish by a mbz bodyshop will rectify this. probably 4-5 hours of bodyshop time. i DO NOT recommend anyone using a machine polisher unless they have proper training or experience. i've been painting cars for 20 years and i myself have burnt paintwork with a machine polisher, BEWARE!!!
