There's a 'discussion' between Sony and Toshiba currently about whether they agree on a single format going forward - at the moment they may go their separate ways.
(Sony) Blu-ray discs can store 50GB of high-quality data, while Toshiba's HD-DVD can hold 30GB.
So you can look forward to some pretty nifty satnav or song collections in a year or two.
Oh and that's 10,000x more storage on one disk than my first IBM PC Hard Drive at work.
