I posted under 'Help!' (see below) and another (seperate) question has risen.

The replacement key fob does everything it's supposed to; however, the old (original) fob only opened the driver's door on the first press and required a second press to open all the doors: the new key only seems to have one setting - first/single press, all doors open.

Is there any way to re-programme the fob?

Yes, this can be switched. Unfortunately I can't remember how to do it; it is in the owners manual somewhere, but it's late and raining so I won't check it right now.

I seem to remember it possibly being to press hold down the lock and unlock buttons together for a few seconds, but I could be confused.

If no-one else has answered I will look it up tomorrow.

Yup, I did remember correctly. There are two settings for unlocking:

o One press unlocks all doors, fuel filler flap & boot lid.

o First press unlocks driver's door and fuel filler flap. Second press unlocks remaining doors and boot lid.

To switch back and forth between the settings: simultaneously press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the remote for approx 6 seconds, until the remote's indicator lamp lights up twice.

[This applies to my car at least, 2002 W208 CLK, although I imagine it's not unique]

Thanks Calum; worked a treat! Although not vital, it's a useful 'peace of mind' option for when my wife is using the car alone.

No doubt I'll bore you all rigid with seemingly pointless questions but I'm still feeling my way with the new Merc, totally different to my '92 190E!
