We've got a fairy old Series 1 hard wired Nextbase Dash Cam in our car, which I think is now broken as when I brought it in to view some footage it appears it's no longer recording and nothing I do seems to change that. So I was planning on buying a Series 2 one but have read that the hard wiring for Series 2 ones has a different end bit so won't work unless we get it all changed. Had a look on eBay to see if I could find a cheap refurbished one but they are asking stupid money for something that is either used or reconditioned and I just wondered if anyone has any suggestions :D

What connection does the old one have?

When you say end bit, do you mean where the power supply connects to the camera unit?

If so, look for adapters cables.

Not the best of pics, Keith took it ;)
That's mini-usb - was a very common connector and could still be for some dash-cams - worth checking the paperwork of any potential cameras - if it has mini-USB (not Micro as that's different) then you can use the same lead to power a new camera

my Nextbase 322 in the ML still uses that connector. I think the 522 in my CLS is the same.

Just checked the Nextbase website, and it says the 12v cable, you can buy as an accessory, fits all Nextbase DashCams other than the original Duo.

Nextbase themselves seem to have series 1 and series 2 hardwire kits but Halfords just sell one kit which they say “fits all Nextbase cameras”.

Might be worth a trip to Halfords to have a look. I see they don't charge much to fit one so I'm guessing they don't hardwire them for that price.

Have a look by all means but you should have a chat with @Chrishazle before you let them anywhere near your car electrics with a screwdriver! :)
Actually I do recall when I had my Fiat500 that I took it down to Halfords to get them to fit one and they couldn't find the fuse bit under the bonnet, which was a bit of a worry as they are a pretty common car. Had to get someone to come to the house and fit it on the drive!

If you want one fitted Lyn, go to the guys at Comand Online at Lightwater (M3, J3) which isn’t that far for you. They were the only people I trusted to fit mine in the GLC when I bought it

Thanks for the tag Tony, Lyn messaged me as a result - but my problem with Halfords was they connected a 12v battery to the OBD port while changing the battery on the S204 - 2 days hassle while my indie sorted the damage done, cost Halfords £175! They changed the battery again as that was also questionable, within a month more battery problems, so my indie checked the "new" battery, it had also failed so indi fitted a BMW battery (similar size and rating) he had hanging around (almost new) for a good price and Halfords took their one back and refunded me, last time I go anywhere near them for anything electrical!!

Agree with your recommendation for comand.co.uk (AKA Unique Car Sounds), Mark and Richard are superb. Also there's a decent pub about 300 yards back up towards the main road from them that does a nice lunch while you're waiting for your car to be fixed!

Well I did ask Keith about going there but he said 'it's too far' so I guess that's a no. If the MB was a mini there would be no hesitation, he was out for 3hrs going to Walthamstow and back last week to get a 'new' head for that. It's a man thing, he really doesn't like this A Class so anything other than essential things are left to me

Oarskey dash cam on Amazon. Had one for over a year and it’s perfect. About half the price of a comparable nextbase.

ive got a nextbase in the van, same age but the screen is failing, often won’t show the view but displays the other icons (and getting worse) resetting it works for a short while.

I know what I’ll replace it with……
