Hi I have 2006 ML320 with comand {527} and 6 cd player {819} fitted can any one give me list of parts I will need and is it straight swap for NGT 2.5 .
Comand-Online have just quoted me £1300 to replace my NTG2 with an NTG2.5 unit. Apparently they disable the CD autochanger as the unit has an SD Card slot and the sat nav unit in the boot is rendered obsolete as the NTG2.5 unit has a 40gb hard drive. If my CD Autochanger played MP3 files then I would manage with the six CDs, but it doesn't on my 2004 model Comand. Hope this helps.
Time for an updated HU with all modern mod-cons , the 2.5 was just about adequate 13 years ago so a bit of a dinosaur now-a-days and certainly not worth parting with £1300 to have one fitted , IMHO.
You can get harness adapters and fascia adapters so in some cases it will be pretty much plug + play.
KennyN: I'm not mad about spending £1300 on the Hi-fi in a car worth only £2k at best. At the moment I play MP3 files in the DVD player, but recently for £10 I bought a bluetooth radio transmitter that fits the cigarette lighter and that also transmits MP3 files from a micro SD Card to Comand by Radio. It doesn't work with the steering wheel buttons but the sound quality is very good despite the low cost. For now I will leave well alone and manage with only 4.7GB of music, although the Video/MP3 player is a bit hit and miss.
