Nice 70th birthday surprise today!

Had a real surprise today at a family get together the kids had clubbed together to buy a personal plate which was a total surprise I’d thought about buying one in the past but always thought it a bit self indulgent so over the moon so as to speak. Bit belated due to Covid as my birthday was the end of December 2021 but well worth the wait. My son had spotted X70MDF which is my age and initials so spot on

Yea I hit the big 70 this year I retired 5 years ago a cannot believe how time is flying by.

My parents gave me a big 21st birthday, I had a big thrash at 35 (half of my allocated 3 score and 10) with have a big one this year (made it to 3 score and 10) and then a thrash every year after that - living on borrowed time.

You might be better off without it as it has a tandem oil/vacuum pump buried in the sump as far as I know (the same as the IL6 diesel) that’s definitely put me off that engine (I’m a big IL6 fan) unfortunately

I thought that new engine was supposed to be the bees knees. Are there reported issues with it?
