That's a bit odd; it's a pre facelift w124 300TD, but is badged as an E-class E300 diesel...

1993 does put it at the end of the line almost, and they were badged E

There are a few 220TEs and 280TEs floating around - ie, cars with the later engines but with a pre-facelift bonnet and badged in the old style - but I've never seen a car badged as an E300 Diesel with a 12-valve engine

Till now...

Maybe it's had a smack up the rear at some point and been rebadged?

Negative Malcolm, that's a 124.191 (same as mine) with an om606 engine. The one on ebay has the 603 (I'm not an engine spotter, honest!)

I reckon it's had a tailgate from a facelifted model, assuming they're the same.
