Hello all,

Got problem with my E350 CDI 2011 (W212). The problem is when connecting the car with the caravan there is no 12 volt current inside the caravan. The hitch is ECS electronics (MB-076-D1).

Any advice is welcome.

Kind regard

Robert

Pin 10 for the fridge will only be live when the engine is running. Pin 11 is/should be live all the time. Depending on the age of the caravan, there will be a selector switch that selects whether the car's or caravan's battery is used to power lighting etc when stopped at services etc

Yes, I am sure that there is no main switch in the caravan (off). With my old car W211 320 CDI works the 12 Volts inside the caravan very good. The only thing I can think about is that the problem in the car and not in the caravan.

Does your vehicle have a factory fitted wiring harness? My previous car (R Class) had a similar problem. Found out that the connection to the fuses on the rear SAM was connected incorrectly and connected to a switched live. I found a fuse that was live all the time and moved the cable over

My caravan is a Bailey unicorn s2 2013 year.
The only way I can get the 12v electrics to work in caravan ,for example when I stop at a motorway services, is to disconnect the 13pin caravan cable from the car socket. The car towing electrics is the witter dedicated wiring harness that connects to the rear drivers side fuse board/rear SAM unit.
My car is a C350cdi 2011 Estate face lift model

Hello all,

Many thanks to all of you for trying to help in solving this problem. I took the car to a MB dealer, who told me after checking the car that the problem is between the caravan which has 7pin socket and the car which has 13pin socket. He advised to change the caravan socket from 7 to 13 pin.

Kind regards

Robert

how did you plug the 7 pin 12N caravan plug into the 13 pin car socket ...... o_Oo_Oo_Oo_O

I've just taken more notice of where you are. I assume that the socket on the car is basically a 12N socket with more connections around them .... it was on a Dutch caravan that I saw a socket like this for the first & only time
