My GLC is four years old and was looking at options for a new car - probably my last ever new buy. Since it would be the last one I bought I started looking at EV as eventually liquid fuel might be starting to be taxed even more heavily to make the population sell and buy EV to meet government targets and by then I'd probably be out of the market for a new car.

So checked on the MB UK website and found this information:

So a petrol C-Class is on lease from Merc UK - £329 and Group 31 insurance.
The New All electric EQA is over £500 per month lease and Group 44 to 50 insurance.

So not much incentive with them to buy an EV - really at first glance - this can't be right can it ?? I would have thought MB would be pushing to sell EVs

They are still more expensive to make etc, so this is reflected in their higher sale price and insurance ratings unfortunately.

I wouldn’t worry about it petrol is going to be around much longer than diesel as an acceptable fuel I certainly wouldn’t buy a new diesel car to keep long term. In fact buy the right petrol car and it should hold it’s value well we are a nation of petrol heads don’t forget

Don't forget to consider the lack of road tax, fuel costs and lower maintenance in comparison to the higher cost

I'll get the spreadsheet out and see what I'm looking at for costs. Have the expected maintenance prices been announced yet ???

I have a Diesel GLC BTW and my previous B-Class was too so awaiting the results and possible payout for the legal thing that's ongoing at the moment which will help fund the next purchase.

Thanks for your replies

Think of the reputational damage for being spotted in a Renault buddy
