Hi, could someone help, I purchased a E240 2.6 2001 model from an auction yesterday, when I got into the car to drive it home I found that there was the engine diagnostic lamp was on and there was no heater blower motor and the radio was dead and the illumination to the heater switches was out, could this be the same problem.
Regards.

Hello,, you have 3 faults the engine lamp could be just the O2 sensor if the car drives OK
the heater fan could be the regulator or motor brushes, and the bulbs need replacing in the controls

Hi Malcolm,
many thanks for your quick reply, it drives superbly and has only done 51k so I would be right in suspecting the regulator but could you have a thought on the radio not working?
Regards

Cars in auctions often get flat batteries, could it be that it needs coding, check to see if the cigar lighter works as they are often on the same fuse

Hi Malcolm,
The cig lighter is working, but the radio is dead, it usually asks for a code there appears to be no live feed, I've checked all the fuses including under the rear seat, incidently it is a seven seat estate if that is relevant.

Hi Malcolm,
I have read through the various threads and I have disconnected the battery for the night to see if that will alter the radio connection, will attemp the regulator tomorrow.
Regards

Bulbs are available from the dealers, they're dead cheap. To replace just pull the knobs off with a pair of mole grips (wrapped with a rag).

IIRC the other fusebox is on the side of the dashboard, revealed when you open the driver's door? Its raining though so I'm not going out to check :D
