No start when glow plugs don’t light up

My merc sprinter 416cdi won’t start when the glow plug light isn’t on, this happens daily one minute it will start and then not, doesn’t even crank, all other lights on just no glow plug lights, please can anyone help??

could be the glow plug relay at a guess. but guessing gets expensive.
Get codes read and welcome to the forum.

Thank you for the reply, I had a diagnostic and no codes showing? Could it be something to do with the steering lock?
Thank you for the welcome to the forum I wish I’d have joined earlier as I think you guys will be priceless.

Could be the EIS…..still guessing

You have a merc Indy nearby, what did your garage suggest?
