noise at front

I have a C220D N reg i get a banging noise when i brake at slow speeds forward and reverse. Any ideas the noise comes from front off side ?

I would personally check your ball joints if not that make sure your brake callipers and calliper mounting cradle is tight hope this helps :idea:

It is the model that replaced the 190. I personally dont think it is as well built as 190 was.....the 190 is very dated now . that is reflected by the very low sale value.

I agree with you maybe the 190 is dated looking now but you get less problems with them I would say that the 190 is of abetter build quality compared to the C class I have a 190D 160,000mls still going strong with no problems

I have came across this problem..

The bottom ball joint has siezed .it will check out alright on sight .

But when under load it will give your banging noise

I have a C220CDi - great car, on an 02 plate. My dad drives a K reg 1993 190E 1.8. The 190 is vastly better built, few problems - except the usual starting issues - and has just 50k on the clock. Makes my C220 seem shoddy in comparison!!

I dont see any sence in this answer I CAME ON TO SEE IF ANYONE CAN HELP WITH THE NOISE IN THE FRONT OF MY 220 Not too compare cars .

My 300CE made some VERY unpleasant noises after I first got it; busted anti-roll bar bracket on nearside (that MB failed to notice during last service) Got one for a tenner from MB themselves and fitted it myself.

I was answering the query from dirtydiesel which, 220, you started the ball rolling (on your Sep 1st posting in reply) by comparing models so to accuse me of going off topic stinks of hypocrisy!
