Noise from n/s/r after being jacked up.

I,ve got a 2005 c class,every time i have had it on the lift with wheels off ground i have a noise coming from n/s/r when i go over bumps.i can get the noise if i push up and down on back of car too,sounds like an old bed spring! seems to settle down after time.Any ideas?

Could be a dry bush if theres nothing obviously broken.

Spray the roll bar bushes back and front with Silicon,,that could cure it

bet it's a broken spring

If rear shoes need adjusting this can cause a spring like rattle, you have to take rear wheels off to check adjustment, so look around to see if you can spot any thing else in that area that does look like wear or broken, Hope this helps.

my W203 C240 did the same thing and it turned out to be part of teh suspension not seating correctly after the car was put back on the wheels. The tyre place "reseated" teh suspension with a crow bar and it was ok.

Sadly I am not the most technical person so I cant say ecatly what teh problem was but basically there was a round metal plate that the suspension sits in, when the weight is taken off it the suspension moves out of this plate and doesn't sit back in it properly.

After a bit of man handling it was fine.
