I would be grateful for any help with an annoying noise from the front right wheel area of my E220. The car is in very good condition as I replace everything requiring fixing which happens to be very few as it is a very good car. I have taken the car to a Mercedes Specialist garage but they could not find any fault causing the noise. On a wet day there is no noise. On a dry day the noise can be heard when driving over bumps and when applying brakes at low speed. I am thinking the noise is caused by rubber gaitors or the shock strut causing squeaks on dry rubber seals. Has anybody had any similar experiences.
Thanks.

If when dry, then it will be a dry a rubber on a link, Find a indy with a puller and press who can replace the rubber only otherwise they will replace the entire arm.

If the gaitor has failed (easy to see as there will be oil aroound it and spryed on the inside of the wheel). If you are early enough then you can repack with oil and replace the sleeve. If dirt and corrosion has set in then you need to replace the CV axle - look here Remanufactured Spare Car Parts directly from Mercedes-Benz (mercedes-benz.com). much cheaper than brand new with same warranty.

Only way to be sure is get on your hands and knees and inspect all the rubbers.
