I am experiencing a noise from my steering wheel when turning it. It can only be described as sounding similar to a large spring that is pushed together, & you hear the twinging noise. This only happens when turning the steering.

Hi.
Its a 1997 E230 Elegance (210).
Noise seems to be coming from around the area of the steering wheel/column.

Sound can travel along components, and this makes it hard without hearing the fault.

The known ones are lack of lubrication on the rubber sleeve where the column passes through the bulkhead, and the other is the clock spring contacts too dry
