noise inside the roof liner...

Hello,

I am suffering a noise problem, with my 98' W210 E-280, the noise was found between the roof liner and the roof, sound like some wire of something lossen inside and hitting the roof, when driving, Have anyone had this problem before?

Any idea how can I cure it??

Oh, sorry, I check my V5, the car is early 99, not 98, as in S-reg....

...very interesting, I have an E210, 2001 model with Partktronic and tilt/glass sunroof, and suffered the same noise for several months.
Mine is still under warranty & had the dealer crawling over over it trying to find the noise, which originally, like you, I thought was a loose cable in the roof.
I think it is the cable going to the rear, ceiling mounted Partktronic indicator which runs over the drivers head and should be in clips, but if it is loose it rattles over rough roads or small dips in the road.
The bad news I guess is that it will be a lot of work to take down the headlining, and if your motor is out of warranty...

Well, I don't have a parktronic, but I do have a sunroof, I will think, is the wiring for the sunroof, the situation was exactly the same as yours.


We could clearly heard that noise was not come from the boot or anywhere else, same as your situation, the dealer simply want to avoid for the big job, as u still under warrenty, I think I mght try to take it off and have a look....

Is it hard to do???
