Noises from Gearbox - 300sl 1992

Hi guys,

Ok so driving along everything is fine but when coming to a stand still with Drive still engaged i;m getting odd noises from the gear box. Slightly griding noises with a tiny bit of burbling. Engage neutral or reverse and the noise goes.

Any suggesting. Note that gear box oil appears ok and topped up.

Ok so they're deffo grinding noises now. Got worst just in about 3 miles driving.

I am not sure where you are but there is a place in London called http://www.stephensengineering.co.uk who supposed to be very good for transmissions. I had looked at them to do the gearbox in my 3 litre V6 Nissan QX.

They consistently came up again and again in forums etc when I was trying to find somewhere to do it (not very common at all are the QX's!)

Anyways, may be worth a call.
