Noisey engine

Hi all, not posted in a while. Car is declar3ed sorn this moths for the fun of fixing all the niggles with it. its the 16v 2.0 engine. of the M111 variety. There seems to be a lot of noise coming from the top of the engine and its reverbarating down the exhaust, destroying all the CATs i put on. Any one got any ideas?? Just got the rocker cover off today, chain seems taught enough not to produce a rattle, and i cant tell about the hydraulic elements until the rest of the head is off!!! Help me please!!!

Check all the journals for the cam shafts; may have signs of ware. Strange that your chain seems ok, because that is the usual cause. let us know how you get on when you've done all your work. If its still there after your rebiuld then it might be time for the dreadded STP slick 50!

The duplex chain on the 111 engine does not normally give any problem and often outlasts the engine generally.
