Noisy A Class Steering/suspension

Hello fellow members. I'm sure this may well have been covered before, as I'm expecting it to be a common failing. My Brother in Laws A170, clonks from the front suspension/steering, when going over rough road surfaces. Funny enough so does my 124 220TE!! Any ideas and possible fix. Thanks for looking.

The steering column and steering rack are both weak points on the A class, but check the universal joint on the column, its under the bonnet and has a large rubber boot around it, if someone waggles the wheel you can heard it knock.

W124 anti roll bar bushes, takes half hour to replace and costs a few quid for the bushes from merc.

Front anti-roll bar droplinks? Very common problem on the A-class.

Thanks for the info on the A Class, I will pass it on. My 124 estate, I think I'm right in saying had the front bushes done on it's MOT a few months ago, (the clonking was there before and remains), could that also be rack/steering column?

yes i second that, they are about £25 per pair from the dealers and take about half hour to fit, MOT doesnt pick them up
