Noisy Air Con

I have what sounds like a broken bearing in my air con pump, the air con still works but it sounds like a tractor. Fortunately if I switch the air con off the noise stops, which is a great relief but with the hot weather coming I need my air con. Apart from the obvious cooling it helps with my hay fever.

Has anyone had anything similar? Can it be fixed without having a new pump?

It sound like something has broken in the a/c compressor. If so i doubt its repairable unfortunatly.

Update

I took the car to a air con specialist, they said that the bearing or whatever is broken is inside the pump after the clutch and that it would have to have a new pimp.

Well they gave me a price, £1000.00. Needless to say it isn’t being done.

Try German E-bay the new AC pumps, very cheap on there.
