noisy bouncy suspension

so what is it that causes all the noise - are there a set of usual suspects? the bounciness i guess must be caused by worn shocks and/or springs ... but am wondering about which bushings etc might be the cause of thumping and knocking. any pointers would be gratefully accepted!

which car ?

if it's the TE that's bouncing around then you will need to change the hydraulic spheres.

Main culprits for the clunking etc are worn bushes in the radius arms, anti roll bars, tools lying around in the side lockers, rear seats not fixed down properly, loose spare wheel it could be absolutely anything.

Check for broken springs deep within the wells of the trailling arms.

thanks for all the replies fellas, plenty to go on there. ps it's not the TE, it's the saloon - sorry, should have made that clear!

looks like you were right, TimN - both rear springs cracked in the wells. also, the anti roll bar link was snapped. damn. shockers pretty worn out too. what with these rear susp. probs, and the fact that the gearbox needs attention, i'm going to cut my losses here and sell it for spares/repair. thanks for all replies.
