noisy,rattly engine at idle-c200 1997

i have had the belt tensioner shock absorber replaced recently-this reduced the dieselling sound a little at idle,as the shock bushes were worn a little.

the mechanic says the bearing in the waterpump is noisy and hence the pump needs to be replaced-any come across this one before?

Sounds entirely plausible, I just bought a water pump for my 190e
as its rattling away like a good un (in fact its on its last legs by the sound of it!). Buy one yourself though from GSF or ECP they cost about £40 and get it fitted...have the coolant flushed and changed too.
