Seems there is a clunking, sometimes pinging type noise coming from the front drivers side. It all started a few days ago going over some mountainous speed bumps. The noise sounds fairly loud ,the best description is two ceramic plates banging together and i dread hitting bumpy roads as thats when it seems to make the noise. Its driving ok and steering seems unaffected, on flat, smoooth roads you wouldn't know of any problem. The car is sitting fine too.
I've had the lower ball joints replaced and the steering damper done a month ago when the car was mot'd and serviced. I thought they might have picked this up.
Any ides what it could be and will it be ok to drive until next week when i can get around to sorting it.

Regards,
James

Mercedes seem to suffer from broken springs. It could well be that the end of the spring has broken and isn't correctly seated giving you your odd noises.

I doubt that is is a major suspention fault. The anti roll bar link arm can cause a clonking, its only a ball joint, easy to change if it is that. You can still drive the car with this fault
