I have an 03 E320 CDI - I am about to sign up to the orange dual sim - ie. 2 phones with 1 number. As the car phone is turned off calls automatically divert to another handset. I understand, as its set up, the car telephone turns off 10 minutes after the ignition is turned off. In the handbook it would seem to suggest that this 10 minutes can be changed (& shortened) by keying a number into the car phone hand set. Can anyone explain this further please? Thanks Stephen

According to the manual, when you remove the key from the ignition lock, the mobile phone remains switched on for approximately ten minutes (run-on time).
If you make a call during this time, the mobile phone will be switched off approximately ten minutes after you have ended the call.

You can change the run-on time by making an additional phone book entry on the SIM card.
For the name, enter “Idletime” and for the number, enter a figure between “1” and “30” (minutes).
If you have not entered a number or have entered a different number, the run-on time of ten minutes will still apply.

If that doesn't work try using "Run-on Time" instead of "Idletime".

Apparently this doesn't work on all W211. I tried it on mine but did not succeed. May be this feature has to be activated first using STAR.
Let us know if you succeed.

for my Cl 600 2002 the word is "Nachlaufzeit". German for run on time I presume.

That's it!
I tried Nachlaufzeit and it works on my W211.
Thanks a lot cl 600.
I've added a new entry in my phone book with name "Nachlaufzeit" and number "1" and now my car phone shuts off exactly 1 min after I turn off the car. This allows the network operator to automatically register (after a location update) the other SIM in my handheld phone which has the same number so it then becomes the active phone.
