Hello everyone,
I have just found/registered to this site. I have already found it very useful/informative, well done.
I am collecting my 1999 E220 CDI on Monday and know it has a Nokia hands free kit already installed. i believe it is for the Nokia 6210.
My question is can I obtain an adaptor or similar as I have a Nokia 7210, or will I have to change my phone?.
I went into the local (Hull) MB Dealer and the parts man said he didn't know of an adaptor. I have seen on a "autospy site" that MB were introducing an adaptor in June 2003 for whichever phone you required to keep all hands free working.
thankyou
Graham :D

MB are introducing a Motorola phone interface across the MB range (original equipment) called UNIVERSAL HANDY INTERFACE which is what it says. All you will have to do (so it is said!) is change the physical cradle / connector and any(?) phone will work with the steering wheel / Comand.

If I was ordering a new CLK with phone interface now, I would ask whether it is equipped with the UHI kit. If not how long would the order have to be delayed so that it is so specified? If comand is also being specified, I would also ask similarly about the DVD version.

My problem is I have the old Nokia 6210 interface and every time I speak to the dealership about upgrading to UHI all I get is blank expressions.

I can see no point in just upgrading the interface to the newer Nokia 6310. I have a new model CLK (2002). I expect it to last many mobile phone lifetimes and have no intention of spending a few hundred pounds upgrading the interface each time I get a new phone.

Can anybody give the following information relating to a W209 CLK.
UHI Part number / availability / Price
(Already have the armrest installed 6210 system)
DIY Fitting method
Any other info relating to using / installing / commissioning UHI.
