Guys,

I haven't found a definite answer on this so apols for this repeat question.
My car currently has the following tyres fitted.
Front 225 45 Z R17
Back 245 40 R17 Y

As Nokian doesn't do suitable rear tyres for my car can I put the 225s all around and what issues might this cause?
I know that there are other makes available but I had these tyres for years on my car in Canada and they were great.

Thanks !

I've used Nokian winter tyres on my VW Caravelle previously and was very impressed

As you've a staggered setup the rear rims will be wider than the front, this isn't ideal for fitting the same size tyres front and rear

What I'd do (and have done for my SLK) is check the manual / fuel filler cap and see what size the winter tyres Mercedes recommend (no insurance issues ;)) The smallest width tyres are usually the winters and often the same size all round

I have 205 from and 225 rears for summer and 205 all round for winters - I purchased a set of winter alloys with tyres that I swop to in late October.

Thank you blobcat

I have found some Michelin Crossclimate+ tyres at 245/45/17
These are a little bigger in diameter than mine .. any ideas if they would fit and what issues the slightly bigger rear wheel might cause?

Thanks again.

Many tyre size calculators out there on the wibbly wobbly web you can enter the info into so you can see the size difference and what effect it will have on speedo etc.
Issue you will have is if there's a overall diameter difference between the front and rear wheels then it can play havoc with the cars systems (ABS, ESP and Cruise most likely won't work)

I have 225/45 17 all round on a staggered setup. They are Crossclimate+ and fit fine. 20mm in next to nothing especially considering I came from 205 16”s.

Anthony

Do they look OK or odd and what are they like in the snow?

I bought that car off a mate and he did tell me that the car is crap in bad snow for gaining traction

Thx

Mercedes are pants in the snow being rear wheel drive with summer tyres. Winters are great though and transform them

Crossclimates are pretty much miracle tyres IMO.
There is no noticable difference in the summer depending on how powerful your car is and plenty of grip when it’s wet, icy or snowy.
Amazing for an all season tbh. There really is so little compromise over having to swap between summer and winters.

They look fine tbh. The wheel is very slightly wider than the tyre so it is a permissible fit legally.

I know exactly what you mean :)
They do not look so bad. Well the tyres at least as the wheels seriously need a refurb.
