Hello again,
My 300te failed to start this morning after 3 days of inactivity.
Recovery chap turned up, jump started it and suggested I go to the local quick fit type place to have the battery drop tested.
This I did,and they found nothing wrong.

There were no lights, stereo or anything else left on overnight. The only thing running was the immobiliser and alarm which is a remote locking jobby.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Mike.

Mike,

Start by checking the Drain on the battery with a DVM in series with the Positive lead.

Chances are you have some excessive current there. Pull fuses in a logical manner until the current drain goes away.

Should be easy to localise the problem then.

My money's on the alarm system, they're notorious :(

i dunno if this is any use to you but you could opt for an solar powered battery trickle charger that you keep on yr dashboard and connect via yr cigerette lighter socket. it cant over charge the battery either.

its called Bat Man and costs £19.99 + £2.50 p&p from Britisheco.

they are at www.britisheco.com

or Tel: 0191 209 4161

best regards

Bob

Hi

I am certainly no expert at electrics but surely the solar charger could only work if the cigarette lighter socket is 'enabled' with the ignition off. On my vehicle the cigarette lighter only works with the ign on (i think or maybe postn 1) but certainly not in the off posn.

I have no clue how to sort these easily.

The link above did not work too well for me try this:

However after saying all this you will have to resolve excessive current drain first.

Any experts with easy wiring fixes?

Try disconnecting the alternator.

If a diode has gone bad it will drain the battery whilst off.

thanks for your help folks, I think it is the alarm. I have locked it using the remote. After 3 days the battery is flat.
When locked with the key, no problems.
I can live with it, I remember to lock it with the key if it is to stand for long periods.

Your help is appreciated.
mike.
