None of my fans are working?

I have a 190E 1985, and my car is doing an occasional knocking. I thought it was the gas but, it seems that only happens after I drive for 20 to 30 mins. I have changed the spark plugs and notice that one of the plugs was cracked. I have also changed the thermostat. I never hear the fans going. I'm wanted to know should I change the sensor this item. Is it the sensor right on the engine with 3 prongs? Thanks for your help.

its an electromagnetic fan, this sensor you have found is the fan switch and also the sensor fot the temperature gauge on the dash, any way bridge the two pin plug with the engine running and the fan should click in, mind those fingers, if not suspect the feed eg fuse or the electromagnetic coupling.
