Not recommended eBay seller

My jalopy needs new engine mounts and gearbox mount, I ordered them all from the same seller (autokoraltd)10 days ago and he has today marked them as dispatched, no reply on messages, no explanation why the delay, just hope they are OK and the right ones when they arrive...

I assume your order was confirmed by the seller wen you first ordered them Tony. You don't think you are a bit quick to put the boot in ? I ordered something from Amazon Prime a couple of weeks ago and it only just arrived yesterday so it's not just Fleabay

Nope, ordered on 15th, specified delivery date 17th to 19th, today is the 25th and only just marked as dispatched.

Good luck, cheap mounts are cheap mounts. You might be changing them again in a few month.

I will only use ebay for used parts from breakers now, bizarrely they are probably some of the most trustworthy sellers on there, plus the parts are usually OEM. In my experience the vast majority of new parts are fake chinese rubbish.

why oh why not get genuine considering what you have pumped into the car to get it right.....I know times are tough but the quality v price should be justified.

Some ebay sellers are just that. They are not the most thankful and communicative. I have purchased many things on fleabay and always go by the sellers reviews. Sometimes like you zero communication, not even noted as dispatched, then plonk it arrives. Some sellers dont run around
posting things as soon as paid. They wait say a week to post all sold items in one go.

very true, marked as brand new (fair enough) but including the manufacturers pn to get the unweary to click buy. I only buy also used car parts from a car being broken if its not a consumable item (eg a headlamp, a switch) but always after getting detailed pics of the item with the pn - genune sellers are happy to provide. and thats only after I checked with a dealer the price of new.

Some bigger established firms do the same, not just eBay ..... I once waited nearly a month for an item, when I contacted them to say they were taking the proverbial I was revered to their T's & C's which did actually say that it COULD take up to 28 days for dispatch. I've never bought from them again & told them why!

digressing slightly, some big names even get work done for them & then delay payment for weeks or months

I don't understand I've not gone for a cheap brand, I've bought a recognised brand, FEBI BILSTEIN are a good reliable product, they have been around for years, we used to buy their parts back in the 80's when we were upgrading ford parts.

Had a look at the sellers reviews, lots of them.
with very few complaints (but lack of comms and slow dellivery is mentioned a few times)

Issue with ebay is the fake stuff. Bebi Filstein.

But your seller is a big parts dealer so hope it all works out.

ok, my full appologies to those that said i should go with Mercedes parts and not aftermarket parts, the mounts arrived today, 1 x orriginal Febi Bilstein gearbox mount in good condition, 1 x Febi Bilstein engine mount in good condition and 1 x knock off engine mount with absolutley no markings on it at all.
all now sent back to the seller and new ones being picked up from Mercedes Sheffield tommorrow, well thats me another £280.00 lighter

Some eBay stuff arrives next day, some takes a couple of weeks. Twas ever thus. I think some people only visit the post office once a fortnight, I sometimes end up behind them in the queue

Been there got the tea shirt many years ago, I sometimes buy parts through eBay but only discounted genuine. I hit a pheasant late last year in the BMW which cracked the lower central grill in a number of places so that’s a bumper off job this summer and I sourced the genuine part through eBay from a guy in Latvia at a very good price, similarly a guy in London was selling off genuine BMW cabin pollen filters at a good price on there. MB Newcastle and one or two other MB parts outlets also offer discounts on there so always worth contacting them.

At least Ebay is very easy to return when items are not as described. Katie just bought something for her boat which wasn't as described. Seller admitted product had been updated since he wrote the description. We just filled in the Ebay returns page, got an immediate post free label to print and will get the refund within a few days.

Which is all good but not you didn’t notice or know the difference and they fail 6 month later.

tbf i wouldnt say ebay is not any bettet than anywhere else.
returns exist because they have to,

Agreed, returned all the mounts just waiting for a refund now, new mounts bought from Mercedes are 100% better, gearbox mount fitted, did look at the engine mounts but can only do one side myself, the DPF put me off, so that will be done by mercserve.

When it comes to the cars I’m lazy as hell, I just take them to the MB Indy and let him get on with what ever.
We keep them fully serviced and he does the MOTs too.
Never had to use eBay for car parts which I’m quite happy about.
