Hi, I am new here and just looking for a bit of advice. Afew weeks ago my Engine management light came on the dashboard. I have a cheap £40 dtc fault code reader which showed up as p229f NOx sensor. A friend told me to put some diesel system cleaner in a full tank of diesel and give the car a blast as I usually only knock around the doors to/from the train station. I did this on the M6 and Wow jobs a goodun DTCs cleared and engine management light extinguished. But 2 weeks later the engine management light came on again only this time the codes were P13df adblue problem which I couldn't clear, I checked my adblue level on the dashboard and it was nearly full as attached. A couple of days later I get a message saying the adblue is low and the car won't start in 477 miles. I rang my local garage (not mercedes) and they said it's a well known fault with mercedes but best to take to the mercedes dealer. I bought the car on finance from a non mercedes garage 2 years ago but when I bought the car it had a full mercedes service history which I have continued on a £40 a month service plan. I have rang mercedes and they have said the diagnostic is £174 and I am panicking about the cost to get this rectified. I have had the car for 2x years and love the motor but can't get rid or sell due to outstanding finance its got 83k miles and is immaculate. I have seen a few posts regarding these sensors and recalls but I have been told my model has not had a recall. Can I challenge mercedes due to the car having a full service history or do I have a leg to stand on or do I have to suck it up buttercup and get ripped off from mercedes and pay whatever price they pluck out the sky? Any info on cost to replace would also be much appreciated.
Thank you

You may get them done on a good will seeing as it's got full mb service history . Try for both ,not just one . Or at least one free and 50% off the second .

Mercedes haven't even got Nox sensors in stock apparently. But costs will be around and over £1000. If it were mine I'd have the system mapped from the ECU . £300 and have no more issues.

You don’t need a diesel. Modern emissions control systems don’t like a lot of short journeys. Hope you get it sorted soon and without too much financial pain.

Yes, as above short journeys are the problem. Ad Blue is one of the reasons I sold my CLS.
id be giving your MB dealer a hard time as this is a known issue.

I have a 2011 S350L which has been serviced by MB main dealers every year since new. Last year I had the diesel software update done and one of the nox sensors showed as faulty. I contacted MB customer services to ask for it to be replaced FOC and was told a definite "No". After completing a negative review that was emailed to me, the Service Manager called and asked for all the info. He said leave it with him. 2 days later he called me to say that MB have now agreed to replace FOC as a matter of goodwill. Very shortly after, the other Nox sensor showed as faulty and the Service Manager negotiated an FOC replacement again. So if you have FMBSH it's worth persevering for a no charge fix.

A well known rubbish system I tried with mine. Previous owner spent 1200 plus. I got sick of that and egr adblue both mapped out 200 quid. Mot 3 day later no issue. That system is not fit for purpose and mb are just laughing at us.

I maybe should have done some homework before booking it in as I had never heard of mapping but I know for future, cheers!
