I am at the end of my tethers with Mercedes UK.

I have E220 AMG 2015 with only 25,200 mile on the clock and now due to have the 3rd NOX sensor replacement. The last replacement was January 2021. I approached the local Mercedes dealer and Mercedes UK and was informed that no goodwill contribution will be offered.
Also, I never received a computer update for the car which I think might be due.

I am at loss as to why Mercedes won’t deal effectively with such a widely known and recurring problem of NOX sensor despite their full knowledge of the fault. Sadly, they prefer to ignore it and profit from their loyal customers who will pay for costly repairs rather than admit to the malfunctioning part and accept liability.

This has been a recurring issue as a lot of the members know, and is unrelated to wear and tear with such a low mileage.

I am not sure what to do next. What is the guarantee that it won't fail again next year or in few months even if the car is kept in the garage?

I would welcome any help or advice.

Kindest Regards

.

The diesel emissions software update is putting paid to a lot of nox sensors and Mercedes are reaping the benefit with replacements.
You probably won't like my reply, but its honest.

With the low mileage your car has I would be highly motivated to have it repaired and sell it. Get yourself a petrol model unless you are doing 10k+ miles pa. It really doesn't make any sense owning a diesel unless you are doing a lot of miles. So many things to go wrong with a diesel. EGR regeneration, blocked DPF's, failing nox sensors, adblue issues etc etc. I just wouldn't entertain a diesel unless absolutely necessary. Then there is the cost of diesel at nearly £1 a gallon more expensive.

Sad 2 say think ur right, avoid benz diesels. Prop others as well. Miss sold. Buyers not made aware of back street designed emmisions bolt on, s. Given my last 3 vehicles I wud not trust mb petrols either. Its lack of QC. Penny pinching and complete change in makers business models at least Ford are into people cars benz now hide under a false flag hiding under the superior interiors. Even there it's false leather and cheaper plastics. See how quick mb seat bolsters wear thru. I chose to pay same for ml 250, 5 Yr old over new dacia duster. Not sure of wisdom of that based on hindsight . At least duster did not pretend to be quality.. Its certainly likely to be more reliable, simpler to repair.

This is my first activity on this very useful forum and every word you've used on your post echoes my experience and views. I've had enough of EML's that tell me nothing unless I pay through the nose to reset and know that I'm probably heading for a £2000 replacement cost for pumps, tanks et al on a 4 year old car that's done 20k miles. I'm new and will pick up from members the relevant options but at the moment I'm tempted to sell it and buy a bike !!

This is my first activity on this very useful forum and every word you've used on your post echoes my experience and views. I've had enough of EML's ( 5 and counting since 2021) that tell me nothing and pay through the nose to reset and then I still don't know why. However, it looks to me, having read some posts, that I'm heading for a £2000 replacement cost for pumps tanks et al on a 4 year old car that's now done 20k miles and then repeat the charade with the new kit fitted. I bought in good faith ( fool !) through MB Sales and have had to pay the same outfit maintenance for these sham resets / replacements; there's no incentive for regional sales and service outlets to advise and help their customers as it's win win for them. It looks likely that I will have to (try) and sell what appears to be a good car as my mileage won't change very much.
