Hi, could anybody give me some advice on good will repairs with MB.
An engine light came on on my dash last August, it wasn't an issue for me as I didn't need to use the car due to being laid off at the start of lock down.
I had my car serviced at an indy garage ( they specialise in MB). The mechanic told me that the engine light was on as the Nox sensors were showing up as faulty.
He reset them but advised me to take the car to MB if the engine light came back on which it has done. He did suggest asking for a good will repair as the car is only out of warranty by 5 months and has only done 20k miles and in his opinion the sensors should not be faulty at this age.

Basically I am trying to establish if I have a chance of any good will from MB and what is the best way to go about this.
I would be gratefull for any help or advice on this matter.

Always worth a shot. A visit to MB, a few emails you may get a result.
It's difficult to prove expected life on sensors as they are essentially subject to wear and degradation. Although you'd expect better than 20k miles, there isn't a definitive number.
You could try with reasonable expectation of 'fit for purpose' as an argument but first off is to ask your dealer nicely.

Hello and welcome

Have a search on the forum, lots of threads with NOX sensor issues... some with good outcomes and some with ££££...

It also depends on your relationship with your dealer as they are your first hurdle, after which it goes via MB.

Also I get the feeling not too much work is being paid for by dealers/MB at the moment as like everything they are getting hammered due to Corona. So they claw what they can.

Best suit, charming self, trip to the dealers it is,
