Getting a new reg. next week, and wondering what type of text style to get?

Choice of standard, 3d text, or 3d carbon domed effect. (all legal)
Not a big deal I know, any comments invited.......

Are these legal?

I've got 'slighty' different text on mine and have had over several cars and years never been stopped. In fact only this year at Dover waiting to board the ferry was I told it was illegal..... bit late then..

I suggest you Google The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001

For a number plate they are very prescriptive about the font:

Height 79mm
Width (except the figure 1 or letter l) 50mm
Stroke 14mm
Space between characters 11mm
Space between groups 33mm
Top, bottom and side margins (minimum) 11mm
Space between vertical lines 19mm

Whilst any variation of this is unlikely to get much police attention, if a traffic policeman takes an interest (perhaps yo get stopped for some other reason, and he takes the obligatory walk around your car to see what else he can find) you are liable to a fine up to £1000, and if it is a personalised number plate the DVLA may withdraw it from you.
