If you are somewhat nervous about total strangers taking flash photographs of your car (especially the rear view!), you may find the following site extremely useful:

http://www.camerashyplates.co.uk/

I have found that when I put the plates on - only when I am OFFROAD or on PRIVATE PROPERTY - when flash-photographed, the rear number plate completely 'blanks out'. VERY effective if you don't like your number plate being photographed by total strangers...!!!!!

You must NOT use these number plates on public roads, as it is both illegal and VERY VERY naughty to do so.

p.s. They look so much like normal number plates - I sometimes get them accidently mixed up with my legal plates - silly me..!!

If you do decide to buy, please let me know how you get on.

If I bought some it would not be the camera bit that interested me, just the nicely made plates

They are superbly made, at a good price and quick delivery. I have had had sets made for the past few cars.

Highly recommended.

Most traffic patrol cars have video cameras these days and can spot these plates a mile away, so the chances of being pulled over and fined are extremely high. Probably higher than being flashed by a speed camera.
As it's effectively evading justice, the courts take a very dim view.

But not relevant when only used offroad or on private property.

These particular plates are not to be confused with number plates that have been sprayed with an anti-photographic coating. It being these plates which, having been sprayed with the anti-photographic coating, are detectable.

Useful I guess when lamping in the ML and not wanting to be caught for poaching!
I can't say anyone has ever wanted to take a sneaky flash photo of my E class whilst parked on my drive though.

Perhaps but I'd have thought that in bright sunlight they'd still be obvious.
