Evening all.

Being someone who likes things to be just so, I'm dissapointed to report a knocking noise from the Front O/S suspension on my E280 T.

Ok, it's only on the after stroke on potholes and small road imperfections; lets face it there are plenty of them.

I am thinking rubbery bit? Bush or mounting of some sort? The car is very slightly vauge in the straight ahead position and I'm thinking the two could well be related?

Any obvious/known issues I should know about before I speak to MB?

TIA.

Schtum. :D

Drop links on the front suspension. About £6 each. Do both sides at the same time.

Easy DIY? or Workshop job? Would the tracking need done after?
So many questions?
Thanks.

I had the same problem with my W124 300CE.

Turned out to be the Ball Joints, maybe something to have a look at.

mine too!

yep, i've got similar problem too! it really annoys me .. i'll have Andy Gayle (Birmingham) to check it sometime next week and will post the result ... mine is W210 E200 facelift model ... is it sort of rattling noise when you drive over uneven road?

Lower ball joints and/or anti-roll bar bushes. Not particularly expensive and transforms the front end feel. As well as improving braking and tyre life. Think of it as a Christmas present for your car

Sounds similar to mine. I'm getting it looked at next week and will report back.

Sounds like the anti-torsion/anti-roll bars (or whatever the hell they are called) on the front suspension. Had exactly the same on my C-Class. Assuming the suspension parts are similar it is a very common problem. They go about every 25,000 miles. Nice...

It cost £180 to have them done at a stealers including parts and fitting. I didn't pay as the car was still under warrantee. Makes a big difference though. The whole driving experience seems a lot more precise and tighter some how after having them done.

Sounds exactly like mine was - small road imperfections, etc. It was antiroll bar bushes. I think it was 60 quid at my independent as part of other work, but would need to check

Yep!! Parrot of Doom is absolutely correct!! It's the drop link rod which cost £8 each. ANDY GAYLE in Birmingham changed mine both OSF & NSF for £54 last week. I'm over the moon now, a christmas present for us ... no more that annoying rattling, knocking noise ... we've suffered for a year since we bought it ... now it's gone...
