Hi, today is a sad day , I left my car outside a friends house last night to come back and discover that somone had attacked the mirror with a hammer . The body colour housing seems ok , its just the heated glass and the plastic mountings that have taken a battering.

Does anyone know how much a new mechanism and glass cost ??

should i start saving now ?

many thanks,

a lot more than the price of the mirror ..

its fitted on now and im £112 lighter after some bartering..

Not worth claiming the insurance

I had to replace the NS heated mirror recently and in then end got one 2nd hand by mail order.

Nonetheless, I was disgusted to later find that my insurance policy covers all glass, including mirrors without affecting NCD! Its as well to check what your insurance covers sometimes!

Sorry to hear that Jase :(

My blood boils when I hear about mindless vandalism like this...

I had an old Peugeot, and while I had it, it suffered many indignities... had got keyed down both sides, boot-lid scratched back to bare metal, someone slightly denting the roof by climbing all over the car and the obligatory bent radio aerial... However when the car at the time wasn't worth much more than £750 you can't always make repairs.

All incidents totally separate, spread over years.

One of my colleagues at work once had the wing mirrors on his Pug 306 stolen.
Oh well that's me off my soap box ;)

Its fixed now and they did not damage the painted part . The car was ok , which is the main thing. The lucky thing was on that day we just picked up dads new E220 CDI estate on that day and i had droped his car off for fear of it being attacked. Good thing i did.....
