Chaps, I've awoken a few times lately to an oily discharge from my car, underneath the engine.
Its an odd one, because all the levels I can check are fine. I've ordered a gearbox dipstick to check that, but the fluid is brown/yellow, not red. The aircon is working perfectly, so I doubt its that. Its not dirty oil, and its not fresh diesel. Its not brake fluid or power steering fluid, and it isn't coolant either.
Where does the aircon drain the water it collects? I have a theory that it may be mucky water collecting in the engine undertray, and running off when parked up on an angle. I have had a slight diesel leak for a good few months, and there'll obviously be the odd small drip of oil now and again. That undertray is pretty mucky, the top of it is thick foamy soundproofing, like a sponge.
It only does it on very hot days, where the aircon has been running full pelt.
