The odo and trip on my 2000 year model C200K Sport Estate no longer displays all the digits, the fault is intermittent and on the rare occasions it does work the mileage is still being displayed correctly.

Does anybody know if there is a simple fix? or is it a nice expensive job now that the car is out of warranty !

Its a common fault on the later displays I suspect. My 2000 E has problems with the gear display and temp gauge. I am told, it's because the connections behind the display are held in place with a foam pad, rather than soldered, and this gives over time. Moisture can also cause a problem. Allegedly, you can remove the binnacle, strip and clean the contacts with some contact cleaner and reassemble, though I haven't summoned up the courage to do it myself yet.
