Odometer LED failing on W202

Anyone know the fix for LED sdegments on the odometer failing.

The mileage reading still counts, presumably that comes from the ECU, but some segments in the display disappear, they do reappear for brief periods but then disappear again. First was two segments on the "tens" and now two on the "thousands" have gone. Its not important but very agravating.

Hi,
I think it has something to do with the ribbon cable feeding the display remove the instrument binnacle and inspect the incoming cable conections.
If its just the illumination of the display could just be a dodgy bulb.
