off-set guide,alloy wheels

Having had countless trips to MB/Dealers etc, looking for a new set of alloy wheels for my w202 280 elegance,i have found some but ???
My manual states that my offset is h2 o/s 37,the alloys i have seen are the same size off a w203,but the offset reads eh o/s 31.
can anyone re-assure me.Even the dealers seem to sratch their heads.
or are being un helpful.
will they fit my car or will i have to buy to the exact specification ? :?
