I have a 1997 W210 E280 with 51K on the clock.
I am thinking of replacing it for a later model or even possibly a facelift CLK (i.e. the one with the 4 headlamps - not the current version).
My car has no rust on it at all, but I've read lots of horror stories about the dreaded iron oxide on later E class cars.
My question is....are there "good" and "bad" years for rust on an E class i.e. are there any particular years of manufacture to avoid?
And what about the CLK - how does it fare regarding rust?
Thanks in anticipation.

Very much dependent upon the actual car from reading this forum. 98 to 02 appear to be the worse years however my 00 car didn't have issues so select on the car. Having said that though yours isn't even run in yet so why not spend a little money on it and keep that as it is a known quantity.
