I don't think any manufacturers recommend oil additives.

The additive package that quality oil manufacturers use within the product approved by engine designers is very complex already in order to take in to account lubrication, oil movement, temperature consistency, materials compatibility, durability over a set time period, emissions and emission systems, with this in mind, using the correct Merc product should be a perfect match and one of the reasons Merc engines can do hundreds of thousands of miles with out fault, introducing a foreign body, no matter how well it is marketed can only do one of two things; 1/ Upset the intricate balance of a well designed quality product or 2/ Nothing! either is far from optimal.

Snake oil additive is very good....
As long as some one is holding the head while you squeeze it out. They can wriggle a bit and even bite.

Think of oil as being a recipe blended to create a product with desired qualities. A bit like a cake.
If you were making a cake would you put twice as many eggs in it and expect it to come out better?
