Hi,

I got my CLK 200 Kompressor (208 model) serviced about 2 weeks ago. By an indie mechanic who I have used for the last 2 years.

All good, got new pads and disks as well. Just one thing - the oil is really black - is it not supposed to be clear after an oil and oil filter change?

Anybody any ideas - was I fleeced?

I would have thought that was a little early to be full of carbon yet, mind you diesels do go black earlier than petrols. Next time mark your oil filter and then after service check that its been changed

if your petrol car has a turbo it could send it black quicker feel the oil on your dipstick it should be tackey and smooth, if the car has been serviced regular and the oil should not smell of carbon greg

engine oil in a petrol should be golden for a while after service unlike a diesel which is instantly blackened.Maybe he didn't fully drain it?

Or much more likely, he didn't do it at all!!! Maybe just missed it?? I'd certainly follow it up with him. As stated, the oil in a petrol engine should remain clear for many miles and then only go to a dark golden colour when nearing change time. If he did change it, further checking needs to be done - what oil did he use? Is the motor getting lots of comptession blow-by etc. Don't ignore the issue.
