oil change for a-class A170CDI

help

i want to change the engine oil on my wifes mercedes A class 170CDi  ...

i cant find where the oil filter is located or the release nut to drain the oil

any suggestions?

Well, there's bad news and bad news.  I've not found the oil filter either and there isn't a sump plug.  You'll need to suck out the oil from the dipstick tube.  

My solution is to pay the MB garage whatever they want when it needs a service.  And even then they replaced my brand new, unused spare wheel with a well worn one....

Caught between a rock and a hard place?  That'll be the Mercedes.

Ive heard stories about A classes where basically all the owner can do is top up the oil and check the water, anything else has to be done buy our friends at the service centre.....looks like it might be true!.

As for the oil removal, there are some earlier posts about a tool you can but to remove the oil from the dipstick tube.

I've got one on order at the moment.
I think the oil filter is in a black housing at the rear of the engine. It is sitting vertically with a hexagonal nut on top.
I have a A190 but i found a site which shows good information and pictures of a DIY oil change on a different model of mercedes.
